(I look gross in this picture because I had just driven 9 hours from my college to home for Spring Break!)

almost a year later, we got married - on this day, March 25, 2006!

Happy Anniversary, Kevin! I love you, and I wouldn't trade any second of the past 6 years of marriage to you for anything in the world!

Summer Appliques

It's HOT outside, y'all! Carter has been enjoying his applejuice popsicles here lately - they are a daily tradition at this point. It's a great snack when we're playing outside on these hot days!

As far as summertime sewing goes, I got a few blank shirts at the Consignment Sale for $1 a piece as well as some seersucker shorts. I'm a sucker for seersucker! I wanted to make C-man some play outfits, so I hooked up the embroidery part of my sewing machine and got to work this week. They turned out so cute!

Also, here are a few shirts that I did for my friend Amanda. She's become my sewing buddy. I "taught" her how to smock and put together a jonjon. I use the term taught lightly because Michie's books and patterns actually did the teaching - I was just the human instrument. We are both addicted, and she's done some really cute stuff!

And the Baby's Name Is...

Miles Thomas Watts

I am so very ready/happy/relieved to announce our second baby boy's name to you! You have no idea the stress that naming a child (especially a boy) puts on me. It's probably the biggest job of preparing for a new baby (or so I think). I mean...it's going to be his name his whole life, and his daddy and I have to agree on this huge decision. Where do you even start?

Since Carter's names came from Kevin's side of the family, we decided to start on my side. I was pretty sure that I wanted the middle name to be Thomas because that's my maiden name. What can I say? - I'm fairly attached to that name :-) Miles is the name of my namesake's grandfather. She (Caroline) was my Great Grandmother, so I guess that makes him my Great, Great, Great Grandfather.

Ok, Baby Miles, we are *much*more* ready for your arrival now :-)

Note: The name art pictured above is not ours, but it is what I would like to do. I will repost later when we make our own version.

My sister turns 21 today! She's also coming to visit us this weekend - yay! Can't wait to see you :-)

Note: Her "aunt name" is the name Eleanor Roosevelt called her aunt. She liked it, and it stuck.

A FUN Weekend

We had a super fun weekend around the house. We did all sorts of things! We went to the park, played in a creek, and went on a bike ride - without the camera. We also....

Helped mommy do laundry...

Helped Daddy mow the grass...

Did yardwork and found some worms to play with...

All 3 boys were interested in the worms!

Made a fire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows...

Marshmallows are just soooo yummy, we had to share them (this pic is blurry, but captures the feeling)!

It was a fun weekend, but it WORE US ALL OUT!

Cornice Boards

I am trying to get window treatments up in all the rooms in our house. I have yet to do anything with Carter's big boy room, the play room, and our guest bedroom. I decided to go with cornice boards for the playroom for 3 main reasons...

1) Screwed to the wall
2) High and out of reach
3) Covered with fabric that adds color/pattern to the room

Here's how we made them...

Kevin built the frames from scraps he had/found laying around:

I wrapped it in quilting batting and used a staple gun to attatch it:

Then I wrapped and stapled my fabric. I used Anna Griffin's "Haven - Ochre" fabric which I also got at the Sew Beautiful Marketplace with my Living Social deal that I talked about in an earlier post.

The "pyramid thingy" on top of the storage unit was made by my sister, Anna Katharine, and designed by my mom! It's all of his first year monthly pictures + some cute extras transfered and mod-podged onto wooden blocks. Thanks guys, it really adds a lot to the room :-)

Crab Happy

I guess I'm nesting through sewing because this week I completed another set of outfits for my boys. I'm on the downhill side of sewing though, because I seriously need to concentrate on getting rooms ready for both my boys - just 9 weeks left!

I think these are my favorites outfits, but it's a close call! I can't wait to take my boys to the beach and get their sweet picture in these outfits (maybe we can go in late August/September)!

The crabs are my variation of Little Memories's "Crab Happy" and Cross Eyed Cricket's "Blue Crabs" patterns. The fabric is called "Sis Boom - Maritza Aqua," and it came from the Sew Beautiful Marketplace. I WISH I could buy all my fabric there, It is BEAUTIFUL but fairly pricey fabric. Living Social had a $60 for $25 deal back in February, and this is one of the many things I was able to get!

A Bubble for Lil' Brother

P1010006
PRECIOUS!

NOTE: I am not smocking and making these outfits all in one week....I smocked all this stuff this winter, and now I'm just putting the outfits together which takes MUCH less time. I've gotten to where I can compelte a jonjon in about 2.5 hours....the bubbles take me a little longer - maybe 3.5 - mainly because I haven't made that many of them. So I can make a whole outfit (or close to it) in one good naptime.

Sometimes Carter plays upstairs while I finish up certain things - like when he wakes up and I've only got button holes to go. This is what I find my little stinker doing a lot of the time...he loves his daddy's "shoos!"

I think they fit! What about you?
